WINTEC, Inc. is a small business focused on defense technology R&D while providing engineering services, systems and software development, and flight test support. WINTEC was founded in 1983 and is involved in many technology areas that include platform/stores integration, weapons systems integration/simulation, Unmanned System (UMS) design and development, avionics software, special test equipment (STE) development, and Modeling & Simulation (M&S). WINTEC’s core capabilities include:

Avionics & Stores Management System (SMS) Development

WINTEC provides avionics and SMS development to include requirements analysis, trade studies, system/subsystem functional definition, integration concept definition, interface requirements development, weapon control algorithm/software development, test planning and procedure development. Key platform development programs that WINTEC has supported include the Multi-Mission Maritime Aircraft (MMA), MQ-9, F-15, F-117, and RAH-66.

Avionics Software Development and Test

WINTEC performs avionics software development for both DoD and commercial aircraft programs to include the 787 and A380. We support software development of embedded safety critical systems and are versed in CMMI practices and procedures. WINTEC also provides independent software testing to DO-178B Level A, B, and C measurement standards.

Weapons System Integration

WINTEC has supported numerous weapons systems integration programs to include the Multi-Mission Maritime Aircraft (MMA) stores management system, F-15 Programmable Armament Control System (PACS) software and test set development, and F15 Suite 5/6 software OFP. In addition, WINTEC personnel are actively involved in the following military and industry standards development for platform/store integration:

  • Universal Armament Interface (UAI) and MIL-STD-1760
  • Miniature Mission Store Interface (MMSI)
  • Interface for Micro Munitions (IMM)
  • NATO Air Launched Weapon Integration (ALWI) Study
  • NIAG Study for UAS Interoperability

Weapon System Emulation and Special Test Equipment (STE)

WINTEC develops STE supporting avionics and weapon system development, functional qualification, and environmental qualification. For instance, the M299 Launcher Emulator (MLE) provides a distributed test capability that emulates a M299 Hellfire/Longbow Launcher at up to four launcher stations. WINTEC developed test sets are working in AILs, SILs, and prime contractor facilities across the nation.

Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) System Development

WINTEC is a leader in the area of UGV and associated system development. We provide direct support to the AFRL Robotics Laboratory (AFRL/RXQ). WINTEC develops technologies supporting UMS autonomy and behaviors for navigation and guidance, mobility, sensors, payloads, communications, and mission behaviors.

Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Design, Development, and Integration

WINTEC is establishing itself as a leader in cutting edge UAS technology. We are working to design and develop smaller, more efficient, and more capable systems by rapid integration of emerging technologies, e.g. sensors, communication, autopilots, power systems, into field proven UA platforms to better improve warfighter situational awareness, guarding our country's borders, monitoring assets, or search and rescue.    In addition, WINTEC provides experience in supporting flight test programs, mission support programs, and training.  Included in the UAS work is the operator interface.  WINTEC is working to improve the way that data is displayed to the operator as well as reducing the amount of man-in-the-loop requirements.  We continue to work with industry partners in the areas of systems, electrical, payload, and specifically weapons integration on current and future Unmanned Aircraft Systems to include the Navy Fire Scout.

Modeling & Simulation (M&S)

WINTEC is a leader in the use of M&S for platform/store weapons integration and UMS test and evaluation. We are currently involved in a research effort to demonstrate avionics and weapons integration using a Model Driven Architecture (MDA) methodology as a means to reduce the overall software life cycle cost of the weapon system. WINTEC is experienced in HLA and DIS architectures.
